Welcome to Vote NM

Your Voice, Your Future.

New Mexico belongs to all of us. Every vote counts.

When Election Day arrives, your ballot might look long. You'll see races for governor, state officials, legislators, and important questions about our schools and communities. It can feel overwhelming. But here's the truth: every single race matters for your family.

Why Your Vote Matters In Every Race

From the governor's office to your local school board, the people we elect make decisions that affect:

  • Your children's schools and education

  • Jobs and opportunities in your community

  • Healthcare access for your family

  • Clean water and air

  • Property taxes and public services

When we skip races on our ballot, we let others decide our future for us. That's not fair. New Mexicans deserve a real seat at the table.

What's New in 2026: Independent Voters Can Now Vote in Primaries!

For the first time in New Mexico history, independent voters and Decline-to-State voters can participate in primary elections without changing their registration. This historic change means approximately 380,000+ New Mexicans who didn't affiliate with a party can now help choose candidates in Democratic or Republican primaries.

This is what fairness looks like. Democracy works best when everyone has a seat at the table.

Competitive Races Give You Real Choices

The 2026 primary election on June 2, 2026 offers something special: real competition. Nineteen New Mexico House seats have primary challenges, and multiple candidates are running for governor and other statewide offices. When voters have choices, politicians must earn every vote. That's accountability. That's democracy working as it should.

Your Next Steps:

✅ Check your registration at NMVote.org

✅ Learn about every race on your ballot – don't skip the down-ballot races

✅ Vote early – New Mexico offers early voting in every county

✅ Talk to your family – share what you learn across generations

✅ Encourage independent friends – remind them they can now vote in primaries

New Mexico Shows What's Possible

In 2024, record turnout proved that when New Mexicans have the tools and information we need, we show up. With semi-open primaries opening the door for independent voters and competitive races giving real choices, 2026 is our moment to prove that New Mexico's democracy works best when everyone participates.

Our families deserve it. Our communities demand it. Together, we can make it happen.
